Came here on a rainy Sunday evening and the wait was still close to 2 hours - we were determined to get in since we were pretty much starving. Inside, the space is quite small and intimate, and they have a cute toy train that runs on the top of the ceiling. Depending on where you're seated, you can get a good (or not so good) view of the performers. It was a $10 cover charge per person for the music, which was worth it! A good place to sit and grab drinks if you didn't want to eat, but you will likely end up ordering some food with the wait time. We ordered 2 different croquettes, an omurice and the cod roe pasta, which was actually decently portioned. - Omurice- 5/5, sweet demiglace sauce, soft egg and fragrant rice - Cod roe pasta - 5/5, sooo savory and umami, with chewy bouncy udon noodles coated with the cod roe sauce - Curry croquette - 4/5, on the oilier side, but nice subtle curry filling - Sea urchin croquette - 3/5, a bit oily, and couldn't tell there was sea urchin unless told Would recommend if you don't mind the wait, and definitely worth visiting with multiple people/friends ok thanks for reading, bye

Always see a long time whenever I pass by this place and was glad to finally try it this past Friday! We went to line up about 30 min it opens but still have to wait a bit to actually get seated when it opened at 5pm. Food was reasonably priced and pretty good. But my boyfriend and I are not that into jazz so we weren't sure if the $10 per person music charge. The jazz also doesn't start until 6pm so we had to wait a bit. We ordered: -sea urchin cream croquettes: really good and creamy. -fried oysters: perfectly fried, fresh, and not to heavy -cod roe udon: unique creamy cod roe sauce that goes really well with the udon -omelet rice with demi-glaze: didn't have that many omurice in my lives but I think this one is pretty good. The eggs are really fluffy and delicious Overall would recommend this place at least for a one time experience to try the food and check out the jazz!

The wait: My friend got in line at 6:30 PM on a Monday, and the two of us were seated at 7:35. My understanding is that there is always a line at this place (when we left at around 9, the line was just as long). The food/drinks: + Mandarin slush cocktail - good + Cod roe spaghetti - highlight #1 + Omelet rice with Demi glaze - good + Sea urchin cream croquette - highlight #2 The verdict: Really cool and unique spot. Jazz band was great! Would even come back just for drinks.

We went on a weekday to avoid the long wait. We waited about 50 minutes on a Tuesday night for their 9pm show. The place was packed, but the overall dark ambiance with small decorations all around the venue made the place feel cozy and so perfect for date nights! I am quite foreign to jazz, but I really enjoyed the music!! The food was pleasantly good as well. We shared a Cod Roe udon which was creamy and flavorful. All the food/drink items are reasonably priced. this place is def worth the hype, and the wait is worth it!!

One word: Excellent! Even after waiting 1.5 hours. Yes, the wait is terrible on a late Saturday night when it's prime time outing. The live jazz band was great even though we only got to experience 30 mins or so of it. They play well into the night to just about closing. And the full menu is available right up to about closing too, no kitchen cut off time. Sea urchin cream croquette (2 pieces) ($8): The interior was super hot as it was made fresh. It was super creamy inside, but it burned my tongue a little. The flavor was really hard to distinguish. The exterior was a light, super hot crust. And with the creamy interior, it was a great first food tasting of Tomi Jazz. Japanese curry rice ($15): The hubs seemed to have liked this. Both he and I enjoy a curry on the sweeter side like Japanese curries would offer. The curry itself was on the thicker side that you can pour onto the white rice as much as you like. Since it was a thicker curry, I felt like the flavor was more concentrated as well. It was okay in my books as I like a more a little more runny curry. Stir fried cod roe udon ($16): To die for! A MUST TRY!!! This was super duper creamy that will make your mouth organism. The cod roe was mixed well into the sauce. It was just a spectacular udon with its thick cream. I can still remember that cream sauce coating each and every noodle giving it such a punch of flavor in your mouth. The portion size was also pretty generous. We still rave about it a month later. So yeah. Do try it! The downsides to this place is that you may be sharing a seat with other people at the larger tables. Wait times are long as the hour progresses during the weekend nights. Oh. You also pay a $10 cover charge on the weekends for the live band whereas it's free on the week days.

We had to wait an hour to get in, but it went by fast. The ambiance of the place was my favorite. There wasn't much space, but I loved how dark and cute it was. The musicians were great as well. In terms of food: - salmon rice balls: 4/10 they fell apart very easily, and it was basically all rice and no salmon. felt that the salmon was also kind of salty - cream urchin croquette: 4/10 i thought they were alright. i think the flavor was just not for me - cod roe udon: 9/10! personal favorite. it was so yummy and the flavor was what i needed. - okonomiyaki: 6/10 thought it was standard. nothing too special - wings: 9/10!! loved the wings. tasted great - matcha ice cream: 10/10 probably the best matcha ice cream i have had in new york so far. overall, the experience was what made it. the food was decent, and i would come back to try more.

It was a Friday night at peak dinner time...our mistake. We waited THREE hours to get in, but luckily, the food didn't take long to arrive. It is not often that I will wait three hours and be happy with the experience. However, I would say it was worth the wait especially as it was my first time going. Without a doubt, the drinks take the cake. I don't love the taste of alcohol, and I was extremely and pleasantly surprised to taste the drinks. I got the frozen lychee, and it was delicious and refreshing, and I could barely taste the alcohol! My friend got the Uji Green Tea Plum Wine, which was so unique and tasted like a brown rice green tea that I get at Asian restaurants. The drink menu is so unique and amazing, so definitely explore it. The food was alright -- I got the Tenshindon, which is a crab omelette, and I wasn't super impressed because it was all imitation crab. It was tasty, but there was too much sauce and it was a little salty. My friend got little dishes, ranging from raw squid (not my cup of tea; literal ink came out as I bit into them), to the Okonomiyaki (alright, nothing special and just a plain pancake with seafood in it), to the Sea Urchin Cream Croquettes (yummy - tasted more like cheese croquettes than uni!) It was definitely a little overpriced, but you go for the vibes, and the jazz music did not disappoint. It's dimly lit and there are little knick-knacks everywhere that fit the mysterious speakeasy vibe. Keep in mind that there is also a $10 per person music fee. I don't know if I'd go again, but it was definitely a unique and cool experience!

Food 8/10 The food was a pleasant surprise. It was cheaper and yummier than I had expected. We did have to wait for an hour though, so I can't say it was worth that wait. We got in line at around 4:20 PM, and there already were people in line. The server let us in at 5:10 PM. The mandarin slush cocktail was better than the zen, because the zen had too strong of a vodka aftertaste, despite having a great matcha flavor. The cod roe udon was my favorite, but the omurice was also quite good. I wish the egg was fluffier. The curry croquette had mashed potato, but I am not a fan of potatoes. I am potato-averse, so we also tried the crab croquette, which was bursting with cream. Atmosphere 10/10 Lovely interior. Super cute and dim. We sat right next to the jazz band, so the vibes were immaculate. I really enjoyed observing the small details inside the restaurant, from the toy train and tracks on the ceiling to the mirrors and bottles of sake. Service 9/10 Great service and friendly atmosphere.
